[2024.07.20] A draf of my latest doom-ish framework 1967 Marshall McLuhan - Pattern Recognition https://web.archive.org/web/20240709153148/https://marshallmcluhanspeaks.com/soundbites/pattern-recognition 1994 Danny Hillis' TED Talk: Back to the future (of 1994) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdg4mU-wuhI McLuhanΓÇÖs idea is that we cannot percieve processes that are too slow, itΓÇÖs like those time lapse videos of plants growing. We need to speed the video up to ΓÇ£hours per secondΓÇ¥ to see how the plants move. ItΓÇÖs a quantitative change (the video just plays faster) that produces a qualitative change (it allows us to see what we werenΓÇÖt able to see before). What happens on the other extreme? when changes become so fast that it goes beyond our ΓÇ£fastest rate to process changesΓÇ¥ and it all becomes blurry, with no signs to slowing down. The problem here is not any specific change and how we adapt to it. The problem is the always-increasing part of reality that we have no time to process. https://paquita.masto.host/@crul
